“The original Hedgerley War Memorial Hall, was first opened in February 1921 on land donated by Lord Burnham.
Many village fund-raising events took place to raise funds to build the hall and importantly used local materials and labour in its construction. It was to be a fitting memorial, not only for those who did not return from the First World War, but also to honour those who shared the danger and challenges of service in the armed forces and the families who lost loved ones. Then and now its purpose is to be a place of education, pleasurable entertainment, happy moments shared with friends, time passed in worthwhile pursuits, memories created, knowledge shared and experience from old to young. In essence a beating heart for our community.”
